alright, first off, sorry for all the posts about my tranny this last week

I'm looking to get a converter, I was thinking about getting something that was stock, or a bit better, not sure what kind of advantages I woul dbe getting by going to soemthing more aggressive, but heres my build

8.7:1 compression forged pistons
h beams
scat crank
stock cam
l-35 heads
stock turbo (future with 20G)
stock trans
running about 20psi w/meth
I tune with code59

I was looking at this, but unfortunetly I;m not much for trannys and knowing if this is close, this is at the upper part of my budget for this, and its not really all that serious of a build, heck, this might even be a bit much. looking to everyday drive, drag race, autox, you know, making this as hard as possible.

seconds question, I see the stock converter was super low stall, like 1650, but would actually stall at about 2100, what kind of stall speed with an aftermarket should I look into getting to stay close to that?

also with the 20G Im thinking of using a 12cm exhaust housing

With my 20g-12cm I used a 2800 Precision Industries. They are expensive, but are a very strong converter.

All you would need is approx 2400 Brake stall either one.

If you get a 14 CM turbine housing, you need more stall 2600 min 2800 max.

I have the stock 2100 stall, best 60 ft is 1.68 , you will get better mileage if you keep your stall to the minimum needed. Anything higher, you will use more fuel.

My friend had a 9/11 converter in his Syclone & it brake stalled to 3400,,,, way too high,engine only makes power to 4800 tops. Actually less,but thats what it shifts @. His 60 ft times were worse than mine.

Mine stalls around 3100 against the brakes before it starts pushing through. That is also like 10psi of boost.

3100 just seems to high, I think I'm gonna get something thats about a 1.9k - 2k stall that will brake stall around 23-2400. and stall down the track at say 2800, that seems like the way to go, now where to find a TC that does that...

Mine is a little loose down low. If I remember right, my stock tc and trans stalled around 2500 before it pushed through the brakes. Another brand will act different I'm sure. I'm gonna try to drive mine Sunday out to Tony's house. Maybe we can go for a ride and you can see what you think. You could consider the Corvette converter that adds a couple hundred rpm more stall over stock.

I called and talked to dave at yank, he recommended a 3200 stall converter he sold. He mentioned that the brake stall speed would be much lower than the 3200 rating, around 2400, which suprised me, because I had always heard opposit. He also said that the flash stall wouldl be closer to 3200, perhaps 32-34. I'll glady go for rides at this meet and see whos running what and how it does.

Tell Dave your vehicle makes 500 + ft lbs of torque @ 2800. Then ask him what the brake stall will be with that 3200 stall converter.

It should make that much torque with a good running stock turbo and a tune. At the most I would run is 2800rpm stall with a stock cam.

I agree with the lower stall figures, Ill have to give him a call and see what he says. I figured my peak torque might be 500, 550 at 3200 rpm, but at 2800 i thought it would be lower for some reason, I guess if I get aggressive with it I would prolly be making some pretty good power with what I have done.

Your torque peak will probably be higher than 2800, but your engine on a launch will stall over 3000.
