Need Help!!!!!

After one week this truck is becoming a pain in my ass. Driving home tonight and not 2 minutes into my drive, as I was accelerating on the on-ramp, the truck shifted out of 2nd gear and just revved the RPM's, never making it into third. Tried to go from 1st but it still didnt' catch. From a dead stop, it still wouldn't catch. I limped off the highway, never able to go above 20mph, never reaching third gear, and now it sits in some skanky parking lot waiting for a tow. After I got the truck into the lot, however, I was unable to shift it into Park. I had to force (meaning, two hands pushing) the clutch into Park and even then, I'm not sure if it's in. The key would NOT disengage from the ignition, but it would shut the car off. The button on the shifter won't depress and it won't budge from it's forced position in Park.

Any thing ring a bell here? I'm looking for some kind of idea as to what to tell whoever the technician is that works on it, as I'm clueless about this stuff.

able cable? Can you give me more details...how does this work? Is this a major expense?

it sounds like your shifter is messed up. look under your truck if you can and check and make sure the shifter cable looks good.

the able cable he's talkin bout runs from the actual ignition switch on the column to the shifter in the console. it is what locks your tranny in park with the igniction off.

mine was doing something similar and all i had to do was replace the key switch on the column. really easy to do
