engine brake/off gas decel

I just started driving the truck after along time of letting it sit and it just seems to decelerate really hard when taking my foot off the gas pedel but im not sure if it's just me or if it could be an issue with the converter or not.

It's the stock converter/trans and the fluid still looks new and shifts like a mofo.

I just checked a dm file from last week and it looks like the TCC is locked and doesn't change weather im under boost or not. I don't have any old dm files to check out and compare to on this laptop so figured i'd ask about it.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome

try the aldl lockup test (key on engine off) and listen for the solenoid to click. the slow down on decel sounds like its not lockingup.

Chart C-8A goes into detail on the testing.

You can check the Brake input/Gauge fuse by putting a meter (or a test light) between ALDL F Pin and Ground. There should be power there until the ECM engages the TCC solenoid (since it is on the ground side of the solenoid). If there is no power, then the brake switch is bad, the gauge fuse is bad (that would be obvious), the solenoid is open or an open circuit/bad TCC solenoid connection somewhere. If there is power, apply the brakes and verify the light goes out. If not the brake switch is bad. At that point, you can drive it to see if the ECM pulls that circuit to ground (power goes out).

A couple other thoughts:

The tranny temp switch, if closed, will keep the TCC solenoid engaged (while in 4th gear at least) to keep TC slippage from further heating the tranny. I don't know if the TCC indicator is based upon the TCC switch being closed by the ECM or if the lack or presence of voltage on that circuit is the trigger. Someone knows. If no power on the circuit would trigger the light, that could explain both the decel and the indicator not changing.

The solenoid isn't engaged at all times or you would have a stall problem.
