well did it the hard way. took out lower shock bolt and took out the tie rod...had to man handle it to get it moved...still not enough slack...it hit the center link end..moved the steering over to the right. almost but still not enough l... then i released the caster nut to the i guess upper ball joint... bingo got it out easy after that.

problem is before that tring to force it in.. the plate on the flange side came out and would not stay in...after getting bolts lined up i like a tire went in cross section hoping it would seat it self after tightening... who votes that its gonna leak grease later????

now the real problem...when i went to push the rotor and whatever its called assembly up to get the upper ball joint caster nut back in...it just wouldn't go...jacked it up and hit it slightly ...still would not drop in place...

what should i do now...i guess replace the upper and lower joints...I was really looking for detailed info on this earlier...I should've told ya'll I had never done this before. on any car truck... what should i do ??? thanks for the input

Re: cv install part 2 SOS

a haynes manual has instructions on how to do this

saves the grief of knowing the way to do it

but it will not help you get parts off and on!

my front hubs on the jimmy took almost two hours of messin around to get them off (no heat )

Re: cv install part 2 SOS

I'm in west palm beach florida. would this be the same as the s-10. I don't think i have never seen a haynes for syclone. when i was looking for the uv for the front shaft, advance had the pictures showing the transfer cast and shaft on the drivers side. but they did have it in there files and lots of parts so far they have had were right. its raining down here. I have gotta have the truck done by today or no ride to work.

Re: cv install part 2 SOS

i just found a link to replacing these on a blazer or 4x4 s 10.

doesn't look so bad. it appears the lower has already been changed( has bolts). part i hate the most is how much time i wasted yesterday. It was almost in so i kept fudging with it. I think it got bent. Oh well when it quits raining I'll get on it. the lower has some slack in it. not sure how much it should have so I'll replace it . I think i read somewhere that it is best to do it first.

you're just trying to put the ball joint in now? for an upper ball joint just jack up the lower till right before the truck lifts off the jack stands. while jacking it up you should be making sure the ball joint stud is going into the knuckle properly. once that you have both of those done you should be able to push the upper arm down by hand enough to get the castle nut on the ball joint pretty easily. make sure the ball joint is greased well. the s10 chilton/haynes books list the syclone on the correct year s10 manuals. if you're having trouble with this you might really want to seek help if you're changing ball joints (pay someone).
