Corvette Rim's

I am thinking about installing the 1996 Sawblade style Corvette Rim's on my Typhoon. I believe they are 17 x 8.5 in the front and 17 x 9.5 in the rear. I can get them for $400.00 and they are polished, is that a good deal? Does anyone have them installed on there Sy/Ty's and how do you like them? I want to install the widest rear tire possible, what brand's and width's would some of you recommend?

Because of the AWD, you need to match the front rear tire hieghts. 255/45-17 and 285/40-17 is probably the largest you will be able to fit.

Best common sizes you'll find are 245/45/17 and 275/40/17. They make the 275/40/17 in drag radials and many popular sizes. Also the tread width will vary, so you may find a 275 whose tread is as large as a 285. Nitto has some pretty big tread widths on the drag radials. The Firestone SZ50, while being a great tire, are very narrow as far as tread width.

I have vette wheels on both rides. The Typhoon has 9.5's all the way around. 275/40/17's for tires.

How does the Typhoon handle with the larger Corvette rim's? I am still torn between the 5-spoke ZR-1 rim's and the Sawblade's. I really wanted the 11" rear width Zr-1 rim's, but found a good deal on these 96' polished Corvette rim's. I just installed the Bilstein Sport's, Suspension Technique's Rear Swaybar and the Typhoon is 2 1/2 inches lower all around. Do you think the price of $400.00 is a good deal on 1996 polished Corvette rim's?

Handles great, but tracks in ruts a tad more than stock.
400 bucks is a great deal IMHO if they are nice.
A local Sy owner had the 9.5's all the way around with 1.5 inch spacers on the rears and they looked sweet. He autocrosses the ride all the time, no problems so far.

The five spokes are common, I like the sawblades...

Hey buddy! I think stock rims chromed look much better. Or, you might try some stock rims with moon hubcaps. Really retro!

Stock rims are nice however, they have a tendency to damage very easily... If you're going to spend the money on chrome.. you might as well go with a new wheel made out of a stronger alloy that will last...
