Is there any way to tell the difference between a stock converter and an upgrade? Color etc...?

Most aftermarket converters I have seen are a smaller diameter. If it is a Vig it will be pink. Find out how big the OEM is 13 maybe and measure what you have.

The stock converter is huge, has a 7 or 8 digit GM part number on it, and is an ugly bronze/gold color. It also stalls between 2000-2200 RPM (very tight for a performance vehicle).
